Biography
David Robert Anderson is a composer, classically trained multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist based in Gilbert, Arizona. He primarily writes instrumental film/TV music, and he is heavily influenced by composers such as Dave Grusin, Bernard Herrmann, John Williams, James Newton Howard, and Danny Elfman. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, he studied classical piano with Carole Neal and classical and jazz guitar with Brian Head and Hank Bryant. In 1982, he won second place in the Maryland State Piano Competition.
His Japanese-flavored new age track “Cherry Blossom” is currently in rotation on SiriusXM Spa Channel 68.
His original music has been published through Washington Street Publishing in Nashville, Sostereo in Miami, A Matter of Music in Los Angeles, and through his own publishing company, Cozettas Music Publishing LLC. He is consistently recognized by Nashville Songwriters Association International as a “One to Watch,” and his track “Wild Vine” was recently selected to be pitched to several NSAI publisher meetings.
As an artist, David has performed music that spans the genres of rock/pop, jazz, and classical throughout the United States. He currently performs with his group “Contessa Blue” throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. Their cover of Steely Dan’s “Black Cow” has garnered favorable press reviews in both the United States and Europe. They are going to release a new album in fall 2025.
He is the owner/operator of Cozettas Music Studio in Gilbert, Arizona. The studio provides recording, mixing, mastering, and production and song development services for clients. He is also actively involved as both a musician and producer at Phoenix, Arizona-area studio “Clamsville” in Chandler, AZ.
