Biography
Cellist Oihana Aristizabal Puga began cello lessons at the age of ten with Riccardo Scianmarella and graduated cum laude from the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory in Pamplona, Spain, where she studied with Pilar Huici and Riccardo Scianmarella. In addition, she studied chamber music with Eva Pereda Ansa.
In 2002, she moved to the Netherlands to continue her studies at the Utrecht Conservatory, where she obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in 2005 under the guidance of Ran Varon. In 2007, she graduated as a Performing Musician from the Rotterdam Conservatory, studying with cellist Jeroen den Herder.
Oihana has participated in numerous masterclasses with, among others, Marcio Carneiro, Elias Arizcuren, Shmuel Magen, Vladimir Perlin, Pieter Wispelweij, and Alexander Rudin.
She performed regularly with the Enara Piano Trio in both the Netherlands and Spain. Since 2007, she has been a cellist with the Cello Octet Amsterdam (formerly Conjunto Ibérico), touring throughout Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. She has collaborated with a wide range of composers, including Arvo Pärt, Theo Loevendie, José María Sánchez Verdú, and Gabriel Erkorek. Oihana has also worked with notable Dutch artists such as Hadewych Minis, Izaline Calister, and Conny Janssen Danst.
With the Cello Octet Amsterdam, Oihana has recorded several CDs, including the widely acclaimed version of Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt. She regularly performs with various orchestras in the Netherlands and Spain.
