Biography
Deborah Witteveen (1995) is a Dutch saxophonist and saxophone teacher. She is active as a chamber musician and enjoys being involved in interdisciplinary projects. She is currently the baritone saxophonist of the Ardemus Quartet. She is also part of the music theater group ‘Neo-Fanfare 9x13’. Together with bassoonist Thomas Dulfer, she forms a duo, with which she was one of the finalists of the prestigious ‘Dutch Classical Talent’ 2022-2023. Since 2015, she has also formed a duo with pianist Maxime Snaterse. As finalists of the British ‘Young Classical Artist Trust’, they performed at Wigmore Hall in London in May 2024.
Deborah also regularly plays with larger ensembles and orchestras, such as the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to her work as a performing musician, Deborah is a passionate saxophone teacher.
Deborah studied with Johan van der Linden at the HKU Utrecht Conservatory and Arno Bornkamp at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. She graduated with honors for both her Bachelor of Music (2017) and her Master of Music (2020).
Deborah has won many prizes at various music competitions in the Netherlands, such as the Prinses Christina Concours and Classic Young Masters. She has taken masterclasses with Claude Delangle, Vincent David, and Nobuya Sugawa, among others. Together with the Ardemus Quartet, she studied at the Dutch String Quartet Academy.
