Biography
Hinrich Conrad Kreising's origin is not determined. From 1735 he was an organist at the Kirche der Englischen Kaufmannschaft in Hamburg. In Gerber's Lexikon in 1813 the article about J.P. H. Cario states: “is an organist at the englischen Kirche zu Hamburg, at which former Kreysing, a worthy pupil of Sebast. Bach, stood." Gerber may have received this information in Hamburg, that he had visited just before. However, it is also conceivable that Kreising was a classmate of his father Heinrich Nicolaus Gerber (A-15) with J.S. Bach in Leipzig in the mid-1720's.
No further documents on Kreising's training period are yet available. He was often mistaken for the court musician and composer Johann Georg Kreising (C-11). So far nothing is known about a possible relationship between the two musicians.
