Biography

Mila Baslawskaja was born in Moscow and studied at the Central Music School and the Moscow Conservatory. From an early age, she gave many solo recitals in Russia and shared the stage with musicians such as Natalia Gutman, Oleg Kagan, Gidon Kremer, and Yuri Bashmet.

In 1978, she left the former Soviet Union with her husband, cellist Dmitri Ferschtman, and settled in the Netherlands. The duo performed frequently and recorded works by Nikolai Myaskovsky, Alfred Schnittke, Dmitri Shostakovich, Claude Debussy, César Franck, and Robert Schumann.

Mila Baslawskaja was a principal subject teacher of piano and chamber music at the Rotterdam Conservatory and the Conservatory of Amsterdam and currently still teaches at the Young Talent department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
